Marching Band: 10 Band Camp Guidelines
- Arrive early!!! To be on time is to be late. You should have your instrument out and be in your spot by the time rehearsal begins.
- Be prepared for the weather. Items should include:
- Good pair of tennis shoes. No sandals or bare feet. Sneakers should be worn because we practice on the asphalt. No skating shoes because your shoe must have proper arch support to march correctly.
- Light color and comfortable clothing. You will be in the sun on asphalt for extended periods of time. No tight/revealing clothing (includes male and female) and no bikini tops!!
- Hats, sunscreen, and sunglasses are recommended.
- Rain gear. If it rains, we get wet. Bring extra shoes, socks, poncho, etc. If there is a storm we will move inside immediately.
- During band camp, bring your own lunch and dinner. No food or drink will be allowed in the band room. This is to prevent attracting insects, mice, and to save the carpet.
- Everyone needs to bring a case of water/sports drink (i.e. Gatorade) to share during the week of camp. They will be kept cold for you in coolers.
NO STUDENT IS ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE GROUNDS DURING REHEARSALS!
- Attendance at all rehearsals is mandatory. If you will miss a rehearsal a written note/email by a parent that must be given to the director at least 2 weeks prior to the rehearsal! (illness, family emergency, important family functions are the only reasons to miss rehearsal).
- We function as a team; unannounced visitors are prohibited to avoid distractions.
- The student is responsible for any personal items or instruments, assigned school instruments, assigned music, assigned uniform and any accessories. Do not touch or use anything that does not belong to you! This includes playing instruments other than your own. (i.e. Percussion Instruments/Sticks are only used by percussionists!).
- How you practice is how you will perform. If time is wasted waiting for talking to stop or for any other reason, the time may be added to the end of rehearsal or subtracted from a break.
- Mr. Trio and other instructors are the law. If there is a problem involving an instructor, see Mr. Trio immediately!
- When Mr. Trio or the drum majors grows taller by stepping on the podium or climbing the stand, the mouths are shut and the ears and eyes are open.
